Summer writing camp at Utah Valley University
The two sections (Part 1: Introductory and Part 2: Advanced) to this interactive camp feature a combination of instruction, collaboration, and application in a learning environment that is sure to entertain. So far, the plan is to hold these sessions in person.
Focus topics include: how writers get their ideas, plotting and story structure, how to develop realistic characters, building worlds that stretch the imagination, how to write authentic-sounding dialogue, and much more. Students will have opportunities to share their work in small groups.

Jennifer will also teach a Part 3 section (online only) for a small group of students. This group takes Jennifer's six-point plotting method and breaks down a different element of story each week. Sessions will include an hour of instruction, leaving the bulk of the time working alongside Jennifer in a critique group setting to help apply elements of story structuring to YOUR manuscript. It is recommended that only teens with a good jumpstart on their book sign up for this course. Serious writers: this one's for you!

*Camp attendees should come prepared with a pen or pencil for note-taking and writing exercises. Teens will receive a notebook with lined paper and handouts on the first day of class.

All teens will receive a copy of Jennifer's Teen Writer's Guide: Your Road Map to writing.
